Appeal

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hMDHbr-300

The game I chose for a good example of appeal is Heavy Rain. A game it so close to real life it shows you really are doing something someone would do at home or on the street, or even getting out of bed.
Exaggeration

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVdL9dezHKc

This video is of jackass the game, a game version of the hit us show where a bunch of men play pranks and do stupid funny things.

Timing

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnKC2EaxzZw

Timing is the most important thing in games and animation. A great example of this is Major league Baseball 2K9. This game shows that you need perfect timing for the player to hit the ball.
Secondary Action

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFPkB-TIIZU

This video is of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This secondary action video is of CJ and whats happens if you don't do anything except stand there.
Arc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k31LeN8evh4

An obvious example of arc animation would be angry birds. Where the principle of arc animation is the base.

I couldn't find any bad examples of arc animation. Most games do have a gravity like program on them which makes it hard not through something that wont hit the ground.
Follow Through And Overlapping

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlfH3r780So

The video link is of a scene from final fantasy 8. Its a scene where two characters are dancing and the bad example is shown by the women characters in the clip as the dresses don't flow and look like they are stuck to the characters legs. This is a bad example of follow through.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j90js1L5AQ&feature=endscreen

A bad example of overlapping is the T-Rex animation from tomb raider 1. The tail of the creature has a mind of it own. But still its a lot better movement than the arms, legs and neck. The video also shows you the same battle in tomb raider anniversary.

Slow In and Out

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZfMVbj4BN0

The video link above is from Batman: Arkham Asylum and is about the combat system in the video you can see examples of slow in and out as he hits the enemies slowly but after he has touched them the animation speeds up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n_BinoS1Ug

A bad example is a game called Hotline Miami. This game doesn't use slow in and out, in fact it doesn't use any slow motion what so ever. Its a very fast game in general which makes it a bad example.
Follow Through and Over Lapping

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGKbxhp0HsI

This you tube link shows a video of a horse race in the game Red Dead Redemption. The way the horses main and tail move corresponding to the direction the horse is moving which shows over lapping.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbX3DXTZtkA

The video link above is of the game Batman: Arkham Asylum. It shows how batmans cape continuously moves when he has stop any movement. This is an example of follow through animation.

Staging

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muCtJsy-d9w

Batman Arkham City is a great game for staging. The game has perfect angles to show us exactly what is happening when it happens and there are on points in which we have to judge and guess what is happening. This trailer from arkham city shows part of the Staging concept within Batman Arkahm City.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEpO7hBMQcs

Rock Band 3 is an amazing family game but with the element of staging it isnt at the top of the list. With bars across the bottom you have to follow while playing there's stuff going on in the background which sometimes take your eye and makes you lose focus.
